How Do I Make an Appointment?
If we are with other patrons or if you call after our normal business hours please dial 1# when prompted and leave your name and number. Please speak clearly in a room withthout background noise so we can readily understand your message.We try to return all appointment requests within 4 to 6 business hours. Repeated messages will not move you up in line for an appointment. We generally have appointments available within two weeks of the date you call. If you need to cancel an appointment or reschedule, please email us.

Your new passport process starts with a U.S. Department of State form DS-11. To obtain and print your DS-11, you can: 1.Use the U.S. Department of State form-filler to create and print 2.Download a PDF version3.Pick one up at the Law LibraryIn order to avoid rejection of your application, make sure you:•Print the application single-sided•Type or print legibly using black ink only.•Do not use white-out or correction tape•Bring your DS-11 to your appointment UNSIGNED.
Proof of Citizenship You must bring 1 original or certified copy PLUS 1 photocopy of your proof of citizenship. Some common acceptable forms of proof are: •Fully valid, undamaged U.S. passport (may be expired)•Official U.S. birth certificate that meets the following requirementsoIssued by the city, county or state of birth; oLists your full name, date of birth and place of birthoHas the registrar’s signature and sealoHas the date filed with registrar’s office (must be within one year of birth)•Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth•Certificate of Naturalization/CitizenshipYou must also submit a photocopyof the front and back (if there is printed information on the back) of the U.S. citizenship evidence you’re submitting with the application. Proof of IdentificationYou must present your original identification PLUS one (1) photocopy of of the front and back of your identification. You must submit a passport photo that meets US Department of State requirements. Downtown Postal,Walgreens, CVS, and others advertise same day passport photo services. Our facility DOES NOT take or process passport photos. The photo you use must be:•In color taken in last 6 months.•No Glasses, hair or other items obscuring your face.•The photo must be unaltered.•Use a clear image of your face. Do not use filters commonly used on social media.•Have someone else take your photo. No selfies.In our experience self-processed photos have a higher error rating when matched with US Deparatment of State requirements.
Each passport application requires an Application Fee and and Execution Fee, which are paid separately.Execution (Acceptance) Fee: Payable by cash, check money order or debit/credit card to the Stanislaus County Law Library.Application Fee: The US Department of State requires payment by check, money order, or cashier’s check for each applicant. It is made payable to the U.S. Department of State and must contain additional applicant information as shown here:A fee calculator can be found on the department of state website. All members of a single family applying at the same time can be included on a single check, provided there is sufficient room to clearly provide all of the required information
