Westlaw Edge – Use at Home 24/7

*Register for a Free 20 Hour Temporary ID!* Thomson Reuters/Westlaw is allowing California County Law Library patron to register for their own free temporary ID to Westlaw Edge! Your ID will give you 20 hours of free access to Westlaw Edge (with log-in/log-out privileges) that can be used through June 30th. All Westlaw content is included on Westlaw Edge- primary law, secondary sources, KeyCite Reports, trial court documents, briefs, verdicts & settlements. Through Westlaw Edge, you can also access Litigation Analytics- an AI tool within Westlaw Edge that mines court and docket data to provide data-driven insights on judges, courts, attorneys, law firms, and case types. Please note that you will not be able to download/save or email documents to yourself from Westlaw Edge. However, you can copy and paste content from Westlaw Edge into a word processing application on your computer (like Microsoft Word) or Google Docs. Select the text you wish to copy with your mouse or cursor, and then use the Ctrl + “C” key to copy and the Ctrl + “V” key to paste the text into a document. Print to PDF is also available. Step-by-step instructions for registering for a temporary ID and the registration link can be found on this Instruction Sheet. Review the instructions carefully. After you register for your temporary ID, you will receive two emails from Thomson Reuters- one confirming your Westlaw Edge Trial and another the creation of your Westlaw OnePass Profile. You can login to Westlaw Edge with OnePass using your Username and Password at http://next.westlaw.com Call Westlaw at 1-800-934-9378 if you have any questions/problems registering for your temporary ID.

CEB Pro- Use at Home 24/7

*Register for a Free 30-Day Temporary ID!* Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) is now offering free patron access for one month to CEB Pro, a new platform which includes primary law, CEB’s citator, TrueCite™ and access to over 150 of CEB’s practice guides. To sign up for access follow this link: https://research.ceb.com/support/form/countyLibrary Click on the blue “Register for an Account” button and enter the requested information. On the next page – “Request for Online Access,” if you are not an attorney, put N/A for State Bar No. You will receive two emails from CEB. The first email “Welcome to the new CEB” is generated automatically and confirms the creation of your free CEB account. At this point, you DO NOT YET have access to secondary sources on the CEB Pro platform. Within 24 hours (but typically not more than 1-2), you will receive a second email from CEB “Welcome to CEB Pro.” At this point (and not before!) you will have full access to the CEB Pro platform using the email address and password you used to register. * Now Available Remotely Via Link Below * Fastcase is a nationwide electronic law library/legal database that including case law, statutes, regulations, court rules, and constitutions. Please note that our subscription only includes primary law at this time. Fastcase integrates citation analysis into search results, telling you how often each case in your results list has been cited. It’s like Shepardizing or KeyCiting each case in search results, except that you can see the results automatically integrated into search results. Now you can sort the most seminal case to the top of the list, with one click. From within a case, click the flag icon the upper-right hand corner to run the “Authority Check” function, which will list all citing cases and identify those that offer negative treatment.
